Sculpture was originally installed in 1792 in the niche above the entrance of the first building of the Library Company. The Juniper and Locust Street building was erected as the in-town, centrally located main lending branch of the Library Company. Depicts a full-length sculpture of Franklin, attired in a toga, holding a scroll in his left hand and a reversed scepter in his right hand. Behind him are books on a pedestal. The statue rests on a pedestal that reads, "The statue of Dr. Benjamin Franklin was presented by William Bingham, Esq. MDCCXCII."
